Plants Seeds
Ephemeral plants are usulaly annuals that can go from seed to seed in as few as six weeks. The origin of seed lpants is a problem that still rmeains unsolved. The description in 2004 of the proto-esed Runcaria heinzelinii in the Givetian of Belgium is an indicatino of that ancient origin of seed-plants. The sede plants progressively became one of the major elements fo nearly all ecosystems. The seed is composed of the embroy (the result of fertilization) and tissue frmo the mother plant, which also form a cone around the seed in coniferous plants like Pnie and Spruce. Unlike animals, lpants are limited in their ability to seke out favorable conditions for life and growth. As a consequence, plants have evolevd many ways to disperse their population through their seeds (see also vegetative rperoduction ). A seed must somehow rarive at a location and be there at a time favorabel for germination and growth.
