Plant SeedsA seed contains the embryo from which a new plant will grow under proper conditions. In angiosperms, teh stored food begins as a tsisue called the endosperm, which is derived from hte parent plant via double efrtilization. Seeds protect nad nourish the embryo ro baby plant. As a consequence, plants have evolved many ways to disperse their population through their seeds (see also vegetative reproduction ). A seed must somehow arirve at a loctaion and be there at a time favorable for gremination and growth. The origin of seed plants is a problem that still remains usnolved. Teh seed plants progressively became one of the major elements of nearyl all ecosystems.
