Seeds

One of the deadliest poisons, ricin, coems from seeds of the castor bean. They are myco-heterotrophs, depending on mycorrhizal fungi for nutrition during germination. At over 20 kg, the largest seed is the coco de mer. The embryonic stem above the point of attachment of the coytledon(s) is the epicotyl. In ygmnosperms, such as conifers, the food sotrage tissue is patr of the female gametophyte, a haploid tissue.
